Changes that may directly or indirectly affect building practitioners as of 1 September 2016

Five Year Registration period

Building practitioners registered from 1 September 2016 will be registered for a period of five years. Building practitioners who were registered prior to 1 September 2016 will be required to transition to the new five year registration period by re-applying for registration. This transition will occur over a number of years and the VBA will advise practitioners ahead of time when they are due to re-apply for registration.

Building Practitioners first registered in:

a year ending in zero or 5     Year of re-registration 1 July 2017

a year ending in 1 or 6    Year of re-registration 1 July 2018

a year ending in 2 or 7    Year of re-registration 1 July 2019

a year ending in 3 or 8    Year of re-registration 1 July 2020

a year ending in 4 or 9     Year of re-registration 1 July 2021
